Neolithic is a nonprofit startup in San Francisco building open-source tools and infrastructure to accelerate AI safety research. We're fiscally sponsored by BERI, a 501(c)(3), and funded by Coefficient Giving and Foresight Institute.
Team
Leo founded Neolithic in 2026 after researching scheming capabilities in frontier models, building automated interpretability tools, and doing AI safety field building.
Before pivoting to AI safety, he was a design engineer building autonomous aircraft and orbital rockets, then an ML researcher in computational neuroscience.
Neolithic is currently a team of one and collaborating with multiple other safety organizations. We're incredibly excited to be hiring the first two Members of Technical Staff: join the team.
